The Truth About Steve and Ben Comes Out
In the latest Coronation Street episode, viewers learned a shocking truth. Maggie once had a fling with Jim McDonald years ago, which means Steve and Ben are actually half-brothers.
This reveal comes at a very difficult time for Ben. He had spent the whole night awake, searching online about myotonic dystrophy after finding out his dad had the condition.
Feeling scared and confused, he told Eva that he could not believe something he could not even pronounce might kill him. When Maggie walked in, Ben confronted her straight away.
He was angry that she had not told him earlier about his dad’s condition. Maggie replied that she was not a doctor. That response did not help. Ben became even more upset and said he was not surprised she had lied to him because it came easily to her.
Things Get Awkward When Steve Shows Up
To get away from everything, Ben went to the Bistro and started drinking. However, things did not stay quiet because Steve soon arrived, leading to an awkward moment between them.
Toyah Battersby, who was behind the bar, said it was nice to see them palling up. Ben got annoyed and thought people already knew about their family connection. But Toyah was actually talking about how both of them had been landlords at the Rovers at different times.
Steve then asked Ben if he knew about the dystrophy. Ben said yes, but made it clear he did not want to talk about it. Steve still tried to comfort him and said that he did not have the condition, so it was not certain that Ben would get it.
That did not go well. Instead of feeling better, Ben became angry, stood up, and walked out, ending their conversation immediately. After Ben left, Steve spoke to Cassie Plummer and admitted that he might have made things ten times worse. He could see that his attempt to help had backfired.
