If you thought the Theo–Todd–Danielle drama had reached its peak, Coronation Street has got some news for you. With stolen kisses, broken hearts, and emotional baggage weighing more than a Rovers pint glass, things are set to change in a major way. One man’s attempting to stroll towards love, the other’s attempting to make it through it, and neither has seen the end of the fallout.
Coronation Street: Todd and Theo Are All In
From the moment scaffolder Theo Silverton showed up and locked eyes with undertaker Todd Grimshaw, sparks flew. Their chemistry quickly turned into something more, but Theo came with serious complications: a wife, two kids, and a tightly buttoned-up secret life.
After weeks of sneaking around, the affair came crashing into the open when Danielle, the fashionable and quick-witted wife of Theo, caught her husband with Todd.
Now, Theo’s torn between two worlds, and the tension’s beginning to catch up with him. But according to actor James Cartwright, the relationship between Theo and Todd is the real deal. He revealed that Theo never felt anything as authentic before.
Brought up in a religious household, Theo had kept his sexuality hidden for years. But with Todd, he discovered something else, someone he not only admired but also trusted. Cartwright revealed that Theo perceives Todd not only as someone who loves him but also cares for him. And that level of bond? That’s something special.
Dark Secrets Come to Light—and Theo Faces His Past
But Theo’s issues run deeper than a love triangle. In future episodes, fans will discover the painful reality behind his fear of coming out. As Cartwright uncovered, Theo was forced to undergo conversion therapy as a teenager. Yes, it’s as terrible as it sounds.
The actor said he was stunned to find out how common such behaviors are. And it seems like, that experience left behind scars that he’s still grappling with.
Theo becomes more open with both Todd and Billy Mayhew in future episodes. Although they hear him out and attempt to offer support, the depth of his emotions around the trauma isn’t easily dissected. He stated Theo knows that what he endured wasn’t acceptable, but actually coming to terms with it, having realized his parents and community were in on it, is something he’s still struggling with.
What does Theo want to do now? Easy. To be happy. And for the first time, he thinks that’s within reach, if Todd remains at his side.
Danielle Isn’t Done Yet—And Neither Is the Drama
Of course, in true Corrie fashion, there’s no clean break. Danielle isn’t backing down, and neither are the kids. Cartwright cheekily teased that there are two versions of this story: one where Danielle embraces Theo’s truth with grace, and one where she makes his life an absolute nightmare. And guess which route Coronation Street is taking?
That’s right. We’re diving headfirst into version two, even Natalie teased the same. Cartwright indicated that Theo’s experiencing “a tremendous amount of stress” in trying to reconcile his past and future. He’s being mocked at work, losing his family, and continuing to try and build something new with Todd. But through everything, the two men are clinging to each other.
“Theo left his wife and children for this,” Cartwright said. “Todd’s shouldering all the emotional loads. They’re both making giant sacrifices.
But perhaps, just perhaps, they’re constructing something genuine. A future. A home. A chance at domestic happiness between the scaffolder and the undertaker.
