Coronation Street fans may have thought Megan Walsh’s story was over after she received a five-year prison sentence.
However, actress Beth Nixon has now teased a possible return for the hated villain, and viewers who were relieved to see Megan finally face justice may not be pleased by what she had to say. Dive in for more details.
Beth Nixon Teases A Possible Megan Return
Megan recently went to prison after abusing teenager Will Driscoll. The athletics coach had groomed Will and controlled him while hiding the truth from his family. She also targeted Sam Blakeman when he began to suspect her and tried to stop him from exposing her crimes.
Will eventually reported Megan after Tim Metcalfe helped him understand the abuse. The trial nearly went wrong when Will broke down and claimed he had made up the sexual relationship, while his father Ben also got thrown out of court after an angry outburst. However, the judge allowed Will to testify again, and he told the truth about the sexual and psychological abuse he had suffered.
The jury found Megan guilty of all charges and she received five years in prison. She left the dock screaming that Will was lying, claiming she was innocent and vowing to appeal. Yet her exit may not be as final as fans expected.
Coronation Street: Megan’s Story May Not Be Over Yet
During a recent interview on the Inside Soap podcast, Beth gave a cryptic response when asked whether Megan could return to Coronation Street in the near future. She teased: ‘We’ll see, we will have to wait and see!’
A comeback could leave fans fuming after everything Megan put Will and his loved ones through. Beth also made it clear that she would happily return to the soap, especially if the show explored Megan’s life behind bars. She said: ‘I’d love to. Any opportunity to come back I would always come back. I mean I loved it so much. I cried so much on my last day!’
Beth continued: ‘But yeah I’d love to come back. It’s such a fab place to work and I felt so blessed to have been given that storyline because there was so much in it. “I was trusted with so much material and I like to think hopefully that people have enjoyed the storyline. So yeah, I’d love to see Megan in prison that’d be great.”
Prison Could Open The Door For Another Story
Coronation Street has already hinted at Megan’s life behind bars. Wednesday’s episode revealed that she had been involved in an offscreen prison brawl, giving fans their first update on the villain since her sentence.
Beth also believes prison could test Megan in a new way. Discussing how the manipulative character might deal with other inmates, she explained: ‘She’s obviously very manipulative and she’s always able to worm her way out of situations. But there’s a real broad range of personalities that are going to be in prison with her.’
Coronation Street has not confirmed Megan’s return, but Beth’s comments clearly leave the door open. Between Megan’s vow to appeal, her prison brawl and the actress’s wish to come back, fans who hoped they had seen the last of the villain may have reason to worry.
