Coronation Street’s Aaron McCusker Bags Major NEW TV Project!

By Roy

Aaron McCusker’s Coronation Street character Ben Driscoll has had a dramatic year on screen, but the actor is now stepping away from Weatherfield for a very different project.

While Ben continues to deal with family shocks and support his troubled son, McCusker has been busy filming a feature-length crime drama that takes him far away from the famous Cobbles. Scroll down for more details.

Aaron McCusker Takes On A New Role Away From Coronation Street

Fans have watched Ben Driscoll face one challenge after another in Coronation Street this year. The Rovers Return landlord has been trying to help his son Will Driscoll after the teenager was groomed by athletics coach Megan Walsh.

Ben has also been dealing with a huge family revelation. He recently learned that his mother Maggie Driscoll had lied to him for years about the identity of his father. The truth revealed that his real father is Corrie legend Jim McDonald, making Ben the half-brother of Steve McDonald.

Away from the ITV soap, Aaron McCusker has been working on another acting project. The actor, who joined Coronation Street last year, is also well known for appearing in the Northern Irish crime drama Hope Street, which has been on air since 2021.

Hope Street Film Brings Back Familiar Faces

Production is now underway on a feature-length special titled One of Our Own – A Hope Street Film. The project will see McCusker return as Clint Dunwoody, another pub landlord who runs the Commadore in the fictional coastal town of Port Devine.

Hair and makeup artist Shelley Blair recently shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from filming on Instagram. Alongside the images, Blair wrote: “Great first week shooting Hope Street One of our Own.” The upcoming film will focus on a violent crime committed against a much-loved local resident.

Coronation Street viewers do not need to worry about Ben disappearing from Weatherfield. McCusker has been filming the Hope Street project while continuing his work on Corrie. That means Ben should remain firmly on screen as Megan Walsh’s trial approaches and Will faces the next stage of his difficult journey.
