Claire Sweeney has already finished filming her final scenes as Cassie Plummer in Coronation Street, but fans still have plenty to look forward to. Before saying goodbye to the cobbles, the actress has teased that Cassie’s exit will be full of drama, emotion and surprises.

Claire Sweeney Opens Up About Cassie’s Final Episodes
Claire Sweeney joined Coronation Street in 2023 as Cassie Plummer. Earlier this year, she announced that she would be leaving the soap to play Miss Hannigan in the touring production of Annie. Although she has finished filming, Cassie’s final scenes have not been shown on TV yet.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Sweeney admitted it was emotional watching herself on screen because she misses everyone she worked with. She said the Coronation Street team gave her a brilliant ending after she told them she wanted to take on her “dream role” in Annie. “It couldn’t have been better, really. It’s lovely,” she said.
She also shared a few details about Cassie’s exit, saying fans should expect “explosive, dramatic” and “quite sad” scenes. Sweeney also hinted that Cassie could finally get a “redemption arc” after everything she has been through during her three years in Weatherfield.
She Looks Back On Her Time At Coronation Street
Sweeney said she feels very lucky to have been part of Coronation Street. She enjoyed working with many of the show’s biggest stars, including Dame Maureen Lipman, Alan Halsall, Kate Ford, Simon Gregson and Bill Roache.
When she was asked if Cassie’s exit would be permanent, Sweeney suggested that it might not be the end forever. She confirmed that Cassie is not being killed off, which means the character could return one day. “Well, I love Corrie. I really, really love Corrie and I miss everyone there… It was one of the happiest jobs I’ve ever done,” she said.
Cassie has faced plenty of problems in recent weeks. Things became even more difficult last week when Ross threatened to ruin Cassie’s relationship. This was the condition unless she convinced Tyrone to stay in touch with him.
