Jack P Shepherd is getting ready to try something new away from Coronation Street. The actor, who is best known for playing David Platt, has landed an exciting role that will see him perform on stage for the first time in a Christmas pantomime.
The new project comes at a time when ITV’s reported rule changes are making it easier for soap stars to take on theatre work without leaving their shows. Scroll down for more details.
Jack P Shepherd Lands His First Pantomime Role
Jack P Shepherd will make his pantomime debut this Christmas in Sleeping Beauty at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, Wales. The Coronation Street star will appear alongside John Evans and Simon Neehan in the festive production.
The shows will begin on December 12 and run until January 2. The role is another big career moment for Shepherd, who recently won Celebrity Big Brother and is now preparing to entertain audiences in a completely different way.

Speaking about the opportunity, Shepherd said: “I’m delighted to be joining the cast in Llandudno this festive season and can’t wait to entertain audiences in this year’s pantomime.”
Venue Cymru Welcomes The Coronation Street Star
The team at Venue Cymru is also excited to have Shepherd joining this year’s production. Amanda Guy, section head at the venue, spoke about what audiences can expect.
She said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jack P Shepherd to Venue Cymru for Sleeping Beauty. Jack is one of the country’s most recognisable and popular television stars. And we’re delighted that he will be making his pantomime debut with us in Llandudno.”

Jack’s new theatre role comes shortly after reports of a major change at ITV. It gives Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors greater freedom to take on stage work without leaving their soap roles.
Under the reported new arrangement, actors no longer have to quit their jobs if they want to appear in pantomimes. Instead, they can take temporary breaks from filming while continuing as regular cast members. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
