Former Corrie favourite Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank is stepping into a new phase in his career, and it is already creating a lot of buzz. Just a few months after his emotional exit from the ITV soap, the actor has shared some exciting news that hints at a big move ahead.
Daniel Brocklebank Shares Big Film Plans After Leaving Corrie
Daniel played Billy Mayhew on Coronation Street for 11 years before his character was killed off earlier this year during the dramatic Corriedale crossover in January. His exit marked the end of a long journey on the show, but it did not take long for him to move on to something new.
Right now, he is busy rehearsing for a stage play called Double Double. The show is running from April 28 to May 30 at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester. While he is focused on theatre at the moment, he has also confirmed that film work is coming up soon.
He said that he is attached to a couple of films that are still in the financing stage. One of those projects will move ahead soon, and they plan to shoot a trailer and teaser footage as soon as the play ends. He shared that he feels very excited about what is coming next.
Life After Corrie Feels Very Different For Daniel
Even though many fans know Daniel as Billy the vicar, he has done a lot of work outside Coronation Street too. During his time on the soap, he appeared in films on Netflix and worked on other TV shows on the BBC. This helped viewers see him in different roles.
Still, leaving the show has brought some big changes to his daily life. He had been living in Manchester for 11 years, where he built a comfortable routine. He has three dogs and even an allotment there, so he felt quite settled.
Daniel explained that working on Coronation Street gave him a steady routine, which is rare in acting. The schedule was long but consistent, and he usually did not have to work evenings or weekends. Now, things are less predictable.
While working on Double Double, he has been rehearsing in London and staying in a hotel. He joked about how he now has to think about simple things like packing enough clothes or remembering essentials. He said that travelling for work means you have to adjust quickly.
The play also brings Daniel together with fellow Coronation Street star Faye Brooks. She played Kate Connor on the soap from 2015 to 2019. Even though they were both part of the show, they never really shared a big storyline. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
