Daniel Osbourne’s life has completely spiralled in Coronation Street, and Friday’s episode showed that he is no longer coping with the pressure around him. After weeks of defending Megan Walsh, facing gossip at school, and losing control of his emotions, Daniel made a worrying decision that left his family completely unaware of how badly he is struggling behind closed doors.
Megan’s Arrest in Coronation Street Leaves Daniel Shocked
The drama first began when Sam Blakeman raised concerns about Daniel’s girlfriend Megan Walsh and her relationship with teenage student Will Driscoll. Police soon arrived at Weatherfield High and arrested Megan, leaving Daniel stunned by the accusations against her.
Megan insisted she had done nothing wrong. She claimed that Will had made advances towards her, but she rejected him and he became jealous afterwards. Daniel believed every word she said and defended her when Kit Green later questioned him at the police station.
Daniel told Kit that Megan had always acted professionally around her students and said he did not believe she was guilty. The situation became even more complicated after it was revealed that Megan was pregnant. She admitted she had hidden the pregnancy because she feared Daniel was not ready to become a father again.
Kit explained that a DNA test could help prove Daniel was the father and possibly support Megan’s innocence. However, Adam Barlow pointed out that Megan could not legally be forced to take the test. Daniel’s entire world came crashing down when Eva Price told him about the pregnancy.
Furious and heartbroken, Daniel confronted Megan at the Chariot Square Hotel and begged her to take the DNA test. But Megan refused, insisting she had nothing to hide. Daniel then ended their relationship and became angry with Adam for defending her. To Daniel, Megan’s refusal only made her look more guilty.
Daniel’s Problems At School Get Worse
As news about Megan and Will spread across Weatherfield, Daniel realised that students at school were also talking about him. Earlier this week, Hope Dobbs mocked him after he accused her of using AI to complete her homework.
When Daniel told Hope to redo the work properly during her break, she decided to publicly humiliate him. While standing in the corridor, Hope leaned on her friend’s back and wrote a cruel poem about Daniel “being in a relationship with a paedophile.” Daniel completely lost his temper and snatched the pen and paper from her hands.
Hope quickly accused Daniel of assaulting her, and things only got worse from there. In Friday’s episode, headteacher Mrs Crawshaw informed Daniel that disciplinary action had been taken against him. She also told him he would need to take time away from work. The latest embarrassment pushed Daniel even closer to breaking point.
Later in the episode, Ken Barlow kindly offered to look after Bertie for the day. But when Ken brought Bertie back to the flat, he found Daniel in a terrible emotional state. Daniel lashed out angrily at Adam and admitted that “the floor was falling from beneath his feet” and that he had no idea how to sort his life out anymore.
