Big things are brewing in Salem! Days of Our Lives is gearing up for its epic 60th anniversary, and showrunner executive producer Ken Corday is already dreaming bigger than ever.
With DAYS renewed until September 2024, Corday’s mind is racing far beyond the milestone of sixty seasons. Yep, he’s even thinking about sixty-five seasons and beyond! Take a plunge to get the full scoop!
Corday Previews a Passionate New DAYS Era
It’s not like Corday is taking the renewal of Days of Our Lives for granted, but he wants to chase the clouds. “There’s always something bigger and better out there!” says the executive producer. While teasing some amazing things ahead in the sixtieth season, he can’t stop looking toward what’s next. Meanwhile, the Peacock suffered its share of heartbreak this year.

We lost some of the finest and cherished stars who entertained us for years. These include Bill Hayes (Doug) and Drake Hogestyn (John). Both of them left only months apart, and the harrowing silence can still be felt. Ken, who took the blow himself, admits it’s tough, but he’s on a mission to honor their legacies with big, emotional stories mid-year that’ll give viewers all the feels.
He explains, “You move on, and you see their legacy as their children and grandchildren move into the future.” Furthermore, Cordray promises 2025 will be packed with powerful scenes and returning favorites. The new DAYS head writer will lead his team in writing fresh narratives that will play out in spring. The magic will happen just in time with the 60th anniversary celebration in August.
The executive producer kept the details under wrap because the surprise would be worth waiting for! And guess what? After dabbling in the bizarre, Days is returning to its roots. The ex-NBC soap is saying goodbye to wild sci-fi plots because romance and real drama will find their way back to Salem. “We’re trying to root the show in much more of an interpersonal reality,” explains Ken.
So, the focus will shift to “passion, love, and real human connection.” With all the transformations, Corday is convinced that the future of daytime drama is brighter than ever. According to him, people want their stories every day, not just a few times a year.
“That’s what we do and what we will continue to do!” Ken says.
