Trouble ahead for Walford residents as the controversial villain is preparing to walk free soon. As we know the teenager served a brief sentence for his series of disturbing crimes. But now the troubled Joel leaves a young offender’s institute. 

However, when the news of his release is out, it brings anxiety for the traumatised victim Avani Nandra-Hart and her protective mother, Priya. Well, the upcoming drama will centre on the sudden release of Joel Marshall, who was locked up in April after an intense criminal trial.

The teenager was originally given a ‘six-month’ sentence after he was charged with grievous bodily harm, voyeurism and distributing indecent images of a child. Now, Priya’s primary concern to to protect Avani who was a direct victim of Joel’s vile actions after being recorded during an intimate encounter without her consent. 

Priya reassured Avani that the boy would be forced to live far away from the Square, as Ross and Vicki had already arranged alternative accommodation. The situation is raw for the extended family, especially since Vicki was also physically assaulted by the youth. 

Max Murray Returns To Portray The Controversial Manosphere Storyline

Max Murray will reprise the challenging role to explore the aftermath of a dark issue-based storyline. Fans might remember that this plot originally debuted on screen in March 2025. And the focus was all about the dangerous rise of online radicalised misogyny.

In fact, this gritty subject matter was also featured in a special BBC Three documentary titled EastEnders Investigates: The Manosphere later that autumn. Max had stated, “The character isn’t meant to be liked. It’s very challenging, but equally I’ve got the best support I can possibly have with the whole team.” 

Also, Max had revealed that despite the difficult subject matter, he received a positive response from the audience. But now the question is: Has Joel repented his past actions?
