Mark Jr’s fight with Grant has become one of the biggest talking points among EastEnders fans. Grant stepped in when Mark was in danger and even sold his bar to help clear the debt. But instead of warming to him, Mark pushed him away again, leaving fans split over who is really in the wrong.
EastEnders Fans Think Mark Is Being Ungrateful
Many viewers feel Mark has treated Grant badly after everything Grant did for him. One fan asked, “Am I the only one who thinks that Mark Jr is entirely ungrateful? The fact that Grant saved his backside in yesterday’s episode & sold his bar to get the money just for Mark to treat him like sh*t is unbelievable.”
The same fan also said Mark made things worse by embarrassing Grant in The Vic. They wrote, “Even going out of his way to humiliate him in the vic in today’s episode. Mark’s character is slowly starting to get on my nerves lowkey.”

Several fans agreed and felt Michelle was more to blame than Grant. One viewer said, “He is. Isn’t even Grant’s fault, it’s entirely Michelle’s fault.” Another added, “Correct!” while the original poster replied, “100%! She’s to blame!”
However, not everyone fully defended Grant. One viewer said, “Grant is partly to blame. He’s known about Mark for a while now, think it was said 10 years in an episode a while back and in those years he hasn’t been there for his son so he isn’t entirely blameless.”
Viewers Question Why Mark Blames Grant
Other fans pointed out that Grant did not know Mark was his son for many years. One viewer wrote, “I never thought I would side with Grant but in this case he’s right. Grant didn’t know he existed for the first 20 years of his life. When he did eventually discover Mark was his son, Mark told him he had a Dad and didn’t want another one. Grant was respecting his wishes by staying away. Sure, Mark may have grown to regret that decision but he can’t have it both ways.”
Some viewers also wondered what Michelle may have told Mark and Vicki about Grant. One fan said, “Exactly. Grant is getting it from all angles. I am still trying to figure out why Vitriolic Vicki told Grant that he ruined her life. What?!” Another added, “I’ve been reading entries in the EastEnders wiki to figure out what I missed to make her say that. I haven’t found anything, so who knows what Michelle told her kids about him.”

A few fans felt Mark’s anger would make more sense if it was about Grant’s past with Sharon and Tiffany. One viewer said, “Mark’s dislike for Grant would make far more sense, if he was told about his past, abusing Sharon and Tiffany. But being mad at him that he was out of his life, which was down to Michelle, that makes no sense. And he comes to her defence in today’s episode. This comes off as forced.”
The original poster agreed and wrote, “Exactly, there’s no foundation as to why mark truly hates Grant, he’s just trying to base it off as Grant not being in life but how could he have been when he wasn’t made aware that he had a son? & when he did finally find out, he tried to make an effort to be in his life, like honestly, Michelle is the one to blame and it really does come off as forced.”
While many fans called Mark ungrateful, others felt the story had more layers. For now, Mark and Grant’s bond remains very messy. Grant cannot fix years of pain with one big move, but fans also feel Mark could show him more grace after everything that happened.
