The decision to reach out to Grant comes after a moment of reflection between Mark and Sam Mitchell. The two discuss Nigel’s rapidly declining health. That’s when Sam admits that she, Phil and Grant have been distant for nearly a decade. It happened ever since the loss of their mother, Peggy. Later, Mark leaves a voicemail to Grant asking him to return to the Squarw.
Initially, Sam had dismissed this idea. However, the young man feels that the situation could be the start to heal the family rift. Mark thinks that with the potential loss of his best friend, his father might put aside his differences with Phil.
