The soap is bringing back Jon Lee as Josh Saunders for Nigel Bates’ upcoming funeral. The S Club star played the role in the 90s as Nigel’s stepson.
Also, fans of the BBC soap recently saw that Nigel passed away after his long battle with dementia and pneumonia. In fact this time Jon is returning to Walford alongside his former co-star Gemma Bissix to film these utterly emotional farewell scenes.
After Nigel died in Wednesday’s episode Walford residents prepare to mourn him. Hence, Jon Lee will join the cast once again to honour his former on-screen stepfather. Originally, the actor was a part of almost 20 episodes as a teenager. And later he found massive pop success with S Club 7.
When he was asked about how he felt returning to the soap, he said it felt ‘surreal.’ It’s because he enjoyed reuniting with his fictional family members. In fact, the actor is returning for the first time on the show in nearly thirty years.

However, for sure his journey was’nt that simple, it did have some private challenges. The singer recently spoke about his past battle. He had become a serious ‘drug addict’ a few years ago after his father died. He even recalled experiencing psychotic episodes during that difficult period.
