EE/Pam joined the second season of Rivals.

And this would be Pam’s first significant television project since her brief return to Walford last year. The 83-year-old actress will feature in a comedic scene where she crosses paths with Aidan Turner’s character, Declan O’Hara. In fact in a nod to the show’s earlier setting, Pam’s character will mistakenly identify a naked Declan as a legendary Irish broadcaster.

We will see her performing a double-take before she asks if he is actually Terry Wogan. Also, Pam is joining the cast that includes fellow soap alum Danny Dyer, who plays businessman Freddie Jones. Obviously, fans of the BBC soap will likely enjoy seeing the woman behind Pat Butcher back in action with such a star-studded lineup.

Celebrating The Legacy Of EastEnders Star Pat Butcher

For over twenty-five years, Pam played the formidable Pat Butcher. Her character was known for her signature earrings and dramatic romances. However, the soap killed her after a cancer diagnosis. Despite that, she is one of the most beloved figures in soap’s history.

EE/Pat briefly returned for Nigel’s storyline last year.

After collapsing, Pat was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. In fact, it had spread throughout her body. Initially, she hid the news and threw a party to see her family. Unfortunately, Pat passed away in her bed surrounded by loved ones. In her final scenes, we saw a tearful reconciliation with her son, David. She even admitted that she was scared before dying in his arms.

In fact, when she briefly reprised the role as a vision during Nigel’s dementia storyline last Christmas, viewers were thrilled. Also, this new role in Rivals comes as the production mourns the loss of author Jilly Cooper. Meanwhile, are you excited to see Pam on the television again? Let us know in the comments section.
