A staged kidnapping of her grandson triggered Karen’s first exit. Keanu had committed Albie’s abduction to extort money from Phil Mitchell. Even Karen acted as the courier for the ransom money. But soon the plot was exposed. And a cowardly Keanu shifted the blame to Karen.
Later, Karen fled Walford for Spain. However, after Keanu’s death on Christmas Day, she returned to the Square searching for answers. She had suspected Phil or Sharon had harmed him. However, when Karen couldn’t find the truth, she returned to Spain.
But later returned after Keanu’s body was found buried under the cafe. Soon, she realised that Albert Square held too much pain. That’s when she left Walford for good with Keanu’s ashes.
