EastEnders’ beloved Rita Simons drove fans wild by sharing a nostalgic picture with her former co-star Samantha Womack. The iconic pair played the legendary Mitchell sisters, Roxy and Ronnie.
And now the two have sent the fandom into a ‘frenzy’ with their reunion once again. Rita insisted that the photo was entirely innocent, but viewers couldn’t help but get excited over the surprise reunion. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Rita Shares A Cute Picture With On-Screen Sister Samatha Womack
As shown in the post, Rita delighted soap followers by posting a black-and-white throwback photo alongside Samantha Womack.
Rita affectionately labelled Samantha as her partner in crime in the post. She also joked that the behind-the-scenes snap showed them looking cute and “just about to die.”
Well, this playful text is directly a nod to their character’s devastating exits where iconic sister Ronnie and Roxy had drowned together.
Her caption read, “I PROMISE this is just a cute pic that popped up on my phone from today! Not a cryptic hidden message. Just me and my partner in crime. Looking cute and just about to die. You’re welcome.”
EastEnders Fans React To The Post
A user said, “EE really is missing you two ladies! I’m guessing the majority of the audience would be prepared to swallow the ludicrousness of Ronnie and Roxy faking their deaths if it meant getting them back on the Square. It’s been long enough!”
Another wrote, “Why can’t EE just bring you both back. They bring everyone else back from the dead so why not you two?” Some others wrote, “I don’t think I’ve been the same since my two favourites left Walford. Your exit was such a shock to the system. It’s good to see both of you looking so well.”
Elsewhere, many also wrote, “If I were the boss, I would bring you back that would be my first thing and figure out how we do that, but it would be happening love you both.” Fans might remember that Roxy had dived into the pool, hit cold water and suffered cardiac arrest.
To save her, even Ronnie jumped in, but she became ‘entangled’ and was weighed down by the heavy, waterlogged wedding dress. Both sisters drowned together, and their bodies were found the next day.
