Christmas in EastEnders just got a lot more mysterious. In a bold move that’s already sparking a frenzy among fans, the BBC soap has scrapped its tradition of early iPlayer releases for the highly anticipated festive episodes. When Can We Catch EastEnders This Week?
EastEnders fans will have to wait and find out what’s coming for them in Walford this yuletide season. The BBC programme has scrapped its usual early iPlayer release for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s too. This means that the episodes will not be available on streaming platforms at 6 am on Dec 25, Dec 26, and January 01. They will air at 7:30pm on BBC One as scheduled.
Along with this, for the unversed- the soap opera has also made changes to its schedule. There will be two episodes on Christmas Day, airing at 7:30 pm and 10:35 pm. On Boxing Day, the brand-new episodes will air at 8:30 pm. The show will begin the new year with thrilling storylines broadcasting at 10pm. Fans will be able to catch these episodes on iPlayer, but only after they air on BBC One first.
As for the intriguing storylines, we know there is a lot going on in the Square. We will witness Cindy Beale’s iconic affair with former step-son to be exposed in a dramatic dinner fashion. We also have Stacey-Martin and Ruby’s love triangle, which will take centre stage soon. For New Year’s – Eve and Suki will finally say ‘I Do,’ but with Nish lurking around, we aren’t so sure.

Soap boss Chris Clenshaw also spoke to Digital Spy and shed light on the New Year drama and mentioned that Ravi will be central to all of it. “It’s EastEnders’ first lesbian wedding.
