And it’s a win-win moment for her as her character’s strip-search storyline was one of the four episodes that won the prize.

Aaliyah James Celebrates Powerful BAFTA Win
Avani actress Aaliyah took to Instagram to share her immense gratitude after the soap’s big win at the BAFTAs. In one of the pictures shared, the star proudly posed on the iconic Queen Vic set while cradling the prestigious award. According to Aaliyah her heavy storyline was one of the four episodes nominated to secure the victory.
We can also see some behind-the-scenes production stills from the harrowing episodes in her post. The caption read as,, “For me it’s such a blessing to bring stories to life, and to shine light on real life situations. This storyline in particular was so important to me because me at 24, reenacting that, knowing it was a fake set up was daunting. I can only imagine how harrowing that experience can be for actual children.”
Adding further Aaliyah wrote, “For any person who has experienced being strip-searched at a young age, my heart goes out to you. And her co-stars jumped in to give the young girl a lot of love. Aaron Thiara who plays Ravi Gulati, said, “Mi faamlee Dhat!” Elsewhere, Jacqueline Jossa(Lauren Beale) wrote, “Well done, darling.” Balvinder Sopal(Suki Panesar) commented, “That’s ma gal.”
Meanwhile, Clair Norris dropped, “Love this for you,” while Alice Haig, who plays Vicki, said, “You are brilliant x.” Even fans riled up to show their support, with one saying, “You are a great actress, you brighten up my day.” Another shared, “Huge congratulations, so well deserved, such a phenomenal actress.”

Currently, Avani is dealing with the Panesar’s fallout. We recently saw that Avani’s father, Ravi Gulati, left Walford, leaving his wife, Priya and the kids all alone. Earlier, Avani had to sound the alarm when Nugget went missing after being bullied about his epileptic seizures.
She was also a part of a sensitive storyline involving Joel Marshall. The cruel teenager had even recorded an intimate video of Avani and published it online.
