Rita Is A Proud Parent
Rita posted several photos of Maiya, including a clip of her playing the guitar. The actress revealed that Maiya is deaf and has a cochlear implant. Also, Rita called the device one of the best decisions. She even used hashtags for National Deaf Awareness Week and the deaf community.
Rita captioned the post by saying, “She’s the funniest person I know, talented, creative and handles being deaf so insanely well that most people don’t realise…until she reminds you to stop turning away so she can read your lips. She’s dealt with challenges since the day she arrived on this earth, and continues to handle them with more strength, humour and grace than most adults I know.
Adding further the actress wrote, “Watching the kick ass young woman she’s become makes me proud beyond words. My absolute superstar.” Friends from the Walford circle reacted to the post. Jo Joyner wrote, “Beautiful voice- can’t stop the genes.”
Elsewhere, a fan said, “Such a talented young lady, and a beautiful lady like her mum.” Another shared, “She’s super pretty and has a gorgeous voice Rita.” Meanwhile, a third added, “Absolutely beautiful…what a voice. Just like her mummy x.”

Rita played Roxy Mitchell on the BBC soap. And we know what happened after her sister Ronnie’s wedding to Jack Branning. A drunk and drug-fueled Roxy had jumped into a hotel swimming pool. When she hit the cold water, she suffered a cardiac arrest.
