Emma Atkins plays the character of Charity Dingle in the soap. She joined the show in 2000 and has become one of the most popular characters of the Dales. Charity Dingle has been a part of many dramatic storylines. She arrived at Butch Dingle’s funeral. Furthermore, the character was involved in a relationship with Vanessa.
Last year, her pregnancy storyline grabbed the attention of the viewers. She decided to be Sarah’s surrogate but soon realised that she was carrying Ross’s baby. Charity decided to hide the truth from everyone. Recently, she gave birth to baby Leyla. However, a cruel woman has learned her secret. Dr Todd has found out that Jacob and Sarah aren’t baby Leyla’s parents. She has been using the secret to blackmail Sarah’s grandmother. This week, Jacob’s boss demanded money from Charity Dingle.
Elsewhere, Emma Atkins appeared on This Morning, where she opened up about the storyline. Emma said that in real life, Caroline, who plays Todd, is a brilliant actor. She said that her character thought that surrogacy would work, but it has gone horribly wrong. She has just been lying. The soap star revealed that she keeps going to storyline meetings. However, everything doesn’t go smoothly in soapworld. Emma added that it is quite surreal because she watched Gogglebox with her parents and then the birth came on. She said it wasn’t amazing as she is a bit old to have a baby.
The soap actor also opened up about the birthing scenes in the soap. She said it was brilliant to film. It was a great day, but she was tired. Emma said that the three of them were literally stuck in the lift for the day. Furthermore, she had to make the birth noises. She even recalled her own birthing experience.
