After spending 12 years as Dan Spencer on Emmerdale, Liam Fox is up to some new adventures but remains open to the possibility of returning. Since leaving the ITV soap in 2023, his character, Dan, has been serving time in prison for manslaughter. Yet, for fans hoping to see him back in the Dales, there’s still hope. Liam’s post-soap journey has kept him quite busy with stage productions, and he is currently starring in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The Musical in Sheffield. But what does Liam really think about his time on the ITV soap, and could he see himself stepping back into Dan’s shoes?
Is There A Possibility of Return?
Speaking to Leeds Live, Liam talked about his time on the show and described his experience as “fantastic in many, many ways.” After 12 years in the same role, however, he felt it was time for a change. He said, “It was 12 years; maybe I’ll go back one day, maybe I won’t. Whatever job you do, when you have been there 12 years, you need a change of scene. I’m glad I’ve had it.”
Surprisingly, he confessed, “I don’t miss the job at the minute, as I was there for so long.” Yet, he didn’t rule out a return entirely. Liam pointed out that Dan’s storyline was left open-ended. He said, “Dan is only in prison. So, to a certain extent, I feel as though Dan, as a person, is still in the show. He’s just not on screen.”
Still, he remained uncertain about a return, explaining, “Whether he’d come back, I don’t know, as his daughter now lives in Leicester. It depends if the writers come up with something decent and what I’m doing at the time.” Although he has moved on from the soap, Liam remains connected to his Emmerdale family.
For now, he’s enjoying his life away from the Dales, but the door remains open. Whether he will return or not remains yet to be revealed in the upcoming Emmerdale spoilers. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
