For years, Emmerdale fans followed the dramatic ups and downs of Leyla Harding, aka Roxy Shahidi. But her story ended abruptly and in shock after the recent horror limo crash. While viewers are still processing the tragic scenes, Roxy herself has now opened up about her unexpected departure from the soap.
A Bittersweet Goodbye
Emmerdale has already confirmed Leyla Harding’s exit, and she has been announced dead on the show. What broke our hearts was when her son Jacob searched desperately for his mum among the victims at the hospital and discovered her lifeless body. A colleague broke the devastating news—Leyla had died on arrival due to severe blood loss after being impaled by ice.
The scene was just as shocking for Roxy Shahidi as it was for fans. She admitted she hadn’t expected to leave the show so suddenly. Although she initially struggled with the sudden exit, she soon coped up. Speaking with Digital Spy about her future, she said: “It was bittersweet. Getting the push was a mix of emotions. It was a sense of relief because you think: ‘Now I’ve got to get out there and do some new things.’”
Right now, Roxy has dived into new projects. Yoga has become a major focus for her, and she has launched her own business, Yoga Rox. She plans to teach corporate yoga, offer online subscriptions, and even travel to expand her practice. But she isn’t stopping at yoga. She has also revealed her interest in podcasting going ahead. However, acting remains a priority for her.
The best part, however, is that she hasn’t ruled out returning to the soap world, either. When asked if she would consider another long-running drama, she admitted she had her sights set on Coronation Street or Waterloo Road. Where we will get to see her is still debatable, and only the upcoming Emmerdale spoilers can reveal the rest. Until next time, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
