Kelvin Fletcher played Andy Sugden in Emmerdale from 1996 to 2016. The actor talked about the recent scenes of Kim Tate and Joe Tate on his Off Script podcast with his wife, Liz. He also made a revelation on his Off Script podcast with his wife, Liz.
He gave a special mention to Claire King, who plays Kim in the soap. The actor said the soap legend started her village journey in 1989, while he started in 1996. Kelvin praised his former co-star, calling her iconic. He added that she was a good team member.
Kelvin said that she looks good on the screen, revealing that he used to have the biggest crush on her. His wife playfully warned Kim to keep an eye on Kelvin. The actor added that everyone admires her because she is hardworking and plays her character brilliantly. So, soap fans love Kim Tate.
Kelvin Missed A Role!
Besides this, Kelvin disclosed he lost a big role in Coronation Street over 30 years ago. He revealed that he auditioned for Corrie – a little boy, Jammie, whom Jack Duckworth helped. He was almost chosen for the role as he and Joe Gilgun were left at the end.
However, Joe got the role. A year later, Kelvin grabbed the role of Andy in Emmerdale. He still appeared in Coronation Street as Lad in an episode from the ‘90s.
In the soap, Andy Sugden’s storylines revolved around his family relationships, his daughter Sarah, and his wife Katie. He arrived as a foster child but was adopted by the Sugden family. Though he married Kate, their relationship didn’t last. Andy dealt with emotional distress, legal issues, and guilt over accidents.
