The ITV drama is all set to pay a heartfelt and fitting tribute to the soap legend, Steve Halliwell, reveal Emmerdale spoilers. The star played the famous Zak Dingle for years, and was thoroughly loved by his fans and co-stars alike. Unfortunately, the cycle of life is such that no one can stay alive forever. Thus, with a heavy heart, we must prepare ourselves to bid our final goodbye to Zak, alongside the Dingles.
However, reports tease that the funeral will be an emotionally loaded one, with a serving of high-voltage drama with an unexpected return. In a recent chat with the media, actor Jeff Hordley confirmed that an unexpected relative in indeed returning for the funeral. While the actor refrained from revealing the relative’s name, he did tease that it is someone we may already know!
Furthermore, the Cain Dingle actor revealed that this person will shock the family with his sudden arrival at Zak’s funeral. The spoilers reveal that the aforementioned relative will create a lot of drama and won’t let things go smoothly for the Dingle family. The funeral will be held in the upcoming week’s episodes after Cain and Sam bring Zak’s body to Weatherfield from Scotland.
“The funeral has got Dingles written all over it,” Jeff explained. “If you could say shotgun wedding or shotgun funeral, you’d kind of get a picture of what it’s like,” he further added. While speaking about his experience during the filming of the difficult scenes, Jeff agreed that it was difficult for everyone, as they all love Steve.
Yet, every cast member did their best to keep their mood light. “It is what Steve would have wanted, the Cain star asserted. “Steve would have enjoyed this because Steve always liked to have a giggle behind the camera – whilst we weren’t rolling, we made sure we had some laughs as well,” Jeff added emotionally.
Many Emmerdale actors have asserted time and again that the whole cast and crew is like a family. But it is truly moments like these that breathe life into those words. Going by how emotionally invested all the actors are in giving Steve a proper tribute and send-off is proof that they all truly are a family.
