The recent Emmerdale spoilers have just released details about April Windsor’s sudden disappearance storyline, and we couldn’t be more surprised. As we already know, Marlon and April’s relationship is going through a lot at present, and just as he was learning to cope, April disappeared into thin air. However, we cannot completely rule out the probable reasons behind the runaway on Christmas day – which involves Marlon, Ross, and, unfortunately, her dead mother, Donna.
The teenager had a very difficult last few weeks, which might have led to this. To begin with, she gets kidnapped by Jade, who wants to take revenge on Ross. After facing a near-death experience, Ross tells her about how her mother gave up on her life to save hers. Though Ross intended to make her understand how precious her life was, she took it otherwise and held herself guilty for her mother’s death.
Due to her constant struggle with her emotions, she adopted a rebellious attitude and kept pushing Marlon away. Things worsened when Marlon found her sourcing cannabis, and he took it out on Ross by cutting all her contact sources with him. April is very close to Ross, and Marlon’s only worsens things, and soon she lashes out. However, everything culminated to the worst on the day April came home drunk and mistakenly ruined the memory card Donna left for her. In a heated argument, Marlon agrees with her and says if she’d fade into the background – and soon, April rushes out.
Emmerdale Spoilers: Marlon to Uncover Reason Behind Disappearance
While these seem to be major reasons, the future episodes will reveal to Marlon why she decided to go missing. With the latest revelations, it has come to his notice that April was, after all, leading a life that he was completely unaware of. Though Marlon and Rhona involve the villagers in looking for April, eventually, it feels like they will probably never get to see her.
This storyline will build up to be an important one, as Emmerdale makers have collaborated with the Missing People charity for this. Even producer Laura Shaw commented on the storyline, saying that April’s story would intensify as the family was due for turmoil. She also thanked the charity for helping them out with the storyline. Kate Graham, the Head of Communications at Missing People, has also shared her experience working with Emmerdale and focused on how they want to convey the reality without glamorizing it.
It’s not the first time the showmakers have put so much effort into showcasing a social cause and raising awareness for it. For the storyline of Tom King and Belle Dingle, we saw the makers collaborating with relevant sources to ensure they could bring raw and honest emotions to the storyline. The goal behind the storyline is for the viewers to understand what these families go through when their loved ones go missing.
