The soap had a glorious evening on Tuesday as the show was awarded the Best Soap at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards. Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, won the best soap actor award. Meanwhile, Nicola Wheeler, who portrays Nicola King, collected the main award on behalf of the soap.
She gave an amusing speech. The soap star thanked the TRIC Awards. She also apologised as she was drunk. Nicola said that she has been on the show for 26 years, and they have never asked her to give a speech. This is because she is an alcoholic in the soap. She said that she was kidding. However, Nicola is a party girl. She had a wonderful time.
Nicola said that when she first joined the show, it was brilliant. She has done other dramas and then joined the iconic soap. She was shocked to discover the tight schedule and a tight budget. However, she respects what they do and hopes they carry on for a long time.
