Emmerdale Spoilers reveal that Matty and Amy are getting a major new storyline in the upcoming episodes. The two tied the knot last spring, and now Amy has made up her mind to expand their family. This seems like a logical desire, considering that the two have been going really strong and solid in their relationship. Amy was so supportive of Matty Barton when he had to go to prison after being framed for stabbing Samson Dingle.
Amy’s support for Matty only made their relationship stronger. However, Emmerdale Spoilers reveal that the couple may have to face testing times ahead. In upcoming episodes, Matty struggles when Amy becomes rather broodish. During the week of January 27, 2025, Amy spends some time looking after young Frankie Robinson and Moira Dingle. This perhaps brings out her maternal instincts and she starts longing for a child of her own.
Later, when Amy confides in Moira Dingle, she advises her daughter-in-law to have a discussion with Matty. However, when Amy brings up the subject, Matty is caught off guard. He struggles to wrap his head around the idea of adopting a child. Later, she starts to feel guilty about dropping a bomb on Matty like that. Yet, Amy holds on to the hope that Matty will eventually agree.
Previously, actors Natalie Ann Jamieson and Ash Palmisciano told Digital Spy that they’d love for Amy and Matty to stick together. So, there is still hope that the two could end up on the same page. However, it is, after all, a soap, and where is the drama in always being in agreement? Thus, it is possible that Matty may end up disappointing Amy with his decision.
“I’d love to see them going the distance, but it’s soap, and things are going to happen. When things happen, that often tends to make people go stronger,” Natalie noted in the interview. Interestingly, the ITV drama has been writing off many characters in recent times as part of cost cutting. Yet, Amy and Matty are getting a whole new spotlight storyline. That goes a long way in suggesting that the characters, as well as the actors, are highly viable!
