Emmerdale Star Eric Allan Passes Away Leaving Behind Forty-Eight Years Of Legacy!

Emmerdale star Eric Allan, who played Frank, recently passed away. He was a legend who had appeared in many other shows. He was known for his role in The Archers. However, the star passed away this year. Keep reading to find out more details.

Eric Played Frank In Emmerdale Farm!

Eric Allan played the character of blacksmith Frank Blakey. He appeared in the early days of soap in 1972 when the soap was called Emmerdale Farm. One of his key storylines included marrying Janie Harker. It was the show’s first-ever wedding.

He created a mess in the village by poisoning the hunting. Furthermore, he refused to show any horses ridden in the local hunt. Then Frank left the village in 1974.

Meanwhile, Eric also made an appearance in other shows. The star played farmer Bert Fry on BBC Radio 4’s The Archers for twenty-five years. He also starred in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. However, the actor’s fans were devastated as he passed away this year. 

Elsewhere, the star grew up in Yorkshire. Later, his family moved to Canada before he returned to the UK at the age of 18 to study at RADA. Eric also acted in Leicester and Nottingham theatres. He also spent many years in the Royal Shakespeare Company. There, he worked with Mike Leigh. Eric appeared in Bleak Moments, which is a movie based on a stage play. 

Eric Appeared In The Archers!

Meanwhile, in Archers Eric played the character of Bert Fry, who had died the previous year. He also noted that he was the character whom the production team turned to if the storylines were getting too depressing.

One of his best performances in The Archers was Freda’s death. Freda was never heard in the Archers. However, Eric had a strong feeling of her presence. He said that she had never been silent for him.

Elsewhere, Eric, who was born in 1940, was also known for other work. He played the role of tabloid sports editor opposite David Warner in the BBC series Hold the Back Page in 1985. The star also appeared in Coronation Street, where he played the character of Lez Fox.
