Kevin Mathurin’s Charles Anderson has had a terrible year on Emmerdale. In a heartbreaking sequence of events, the vicar lost his son, Ethan, earlier this year. The spoilers recall that his death happened after getting victimized in a hit-and-run, which was orchestrated by a vengeful Ruby. It was an act of revenge by Ruby in an attempt to avenge her son, Nicky’s, death.
Although Ethan had initially survived the accident, he succumbed to a brain aneurysm, a week after the accident. When Ruby found out about Ethan’s death, she assumed that she caused the death due to the accident. However, the doctors confirmed that both incidents were unrelated. Understandably, Charles spiraled downwards after his son’s passing, and it had a terrible impact on his personal life.
In time, Charles Anderson’s relationship with Manpreet Sharma became so affected that the couple eventually ended their relationship. Currently, on Emmerdale, Charles is experiencing complicated feelings for Laurel Thomas. The two ended up in a hookup after exchanging a charged up argument. However, the latest spoilers reveal that the two decide to stay away from each other.
Does that mean Charles could find his way back to Manpreet Sharma? “There’s always going to be love there,” Kevin told the media at this year’s Inside Soap Awards. “I think so much has happened between those two characters and they know each other inside out,” he added. However, the actor believes that because of the turbulent year that Charles has had, a break is needed because it’s been so traumatic.
Currently, Charles needs to focus on his faith.” If it belongs or was meant for you, it will be for you,” Kevin stated. But what about Laurel? Will the fling just remain a fling and become a thing of the past so soon? Sadly, the Charles actor did not spill any tea on that. He asserted that he does not know what will happen next between his character and Laurel.
