Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans will be upset again. This is because of the schedule shake-up due to match coverage. However, the episodes of the shows will air on Sunday this week. Keep reading to get more insights about the schedule shakeup.
Emmerdale And Coronation Street Face Schedule Chaos!
Emmerdale and Coronation Street have changed their schedules. The soap fans know that the shows regularly get moved around the football matches. This week is not different, as there will be a schedule shake-up again. Neither Corrie nor Emmerdale will air on Friday this week. This is because of the England and Uruguay match.
It will air from 7 p.m. on ITV1 on Friday, March 27, with a kick-off at 7:45 p.m. As the match clashes with the slots of both the soaps, Emmerdale and Corrie have changed their schedules. Though the Emmerdale fans watch the soap from 8 pm, the Friday episode will not air.
However, soap enthusiasts can watch the episode at 6 pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, Coronation Street, which airs at 8:30 pm, won’t air on Friday. But Corrie’s episode will be out on Sunday at 6:30 pm. Elsewhere, the soaps will run as normal this week.
Fans Are Furious!
Meanwhile, the soap fans took to social media to share their views about the schedule shake-up. A fan asked on Reddit why the soaps had to change for the coverage of a football match. Another fan questioned why the channel doesn’t broadcast the football match on another channel.
Meanwhile, a fan said that there might be a contract with the football guys to have the matches shown on ITV. However, a fan demanded that the football be shown on another channel, such as ITV4.
Elsewhere in 2025, ITV announced the changes in the soap schedule. From January 2026, there was a soap power hour on weekdays with thirty-minute Emmerdale episodes at 8 pm and Corrie at 8:30 pm. The rival soap aired for three hour-long episodes a week while Emmerdale aired four thirty-minute episodes and one hour-long instalment.
Meanwhile, Dame Carolyn McCall, who is the ITV chief executive, said that they are making good progress on cost-cutting and will make £30 million of savings during 2025. Elsewhere, the soaps’ instalments will air all week except Friday. Keep following Soap Opera Daily for more Emmerdale updates.
