After marking an incredible 40 years on the cobbles, Corrie star Sally Dynevor has finally opened up about what the future holds for her in the cobbles. The actress, best known as Sally Metcalfe, reflected on her long journey and made it very clear how she feels about stepping away. Is she joining the exit list too?
Sally Dynevor Opens Up About Her Long Journey in Corrie
Sally first appeared in Coronation Street back in 1986, and her character quickly became a familiar face in Weatherfield. Viewers watched her fall in love with Kevin Webster, which marked the start of one of the soap’s most memorable relationships.
Their story moved fast. They got married and later welcomed their daughters, Rosie and Sophie. But things did not stay perfect for long. Their marriage ended in 2009 after Kevin’s affair with Molly Dobbs was revealed on Christmas Day. The storyline shocked viewers and also led to the birth of Kevin’s son, Jack.

Then came one of the most emotional chapters for both the character and the actress. In 2010, Sally Metcalfe was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump. While working on this storyline, Sally Dynevor discovered she had breast cancer in real life, too. She received treatment at The Christie in Withington and stepped away from the show for six months before returning.
Sally Shares Her Honest Thoughts About Staying Or Leaving
In 2013, Sally’s life on screen took a happier turn when she began a relationship with Tim Metcalfe, played by Joe Duttine. Their bond brought a new energy to her character, and fans have loved seeing them together ever since.
Looking back at her time on the show, Sally admitted she never expected to stay this long. She said she thought the role would last for a year at most. Now, when she looks back at four decades, even she finds it hard to believe. She called it the “perfect job” and said not many people stay in the same role for 40 years, especially in acting.

When it comes to her future, she did not hold back. She clearly said, “I don’t think I’m ever going to retire. I’ll stay here as long as they want me.” She added that even if the show no longer needed her, she would still try to keep working because retirement does not appeal to her at all.
She also spoke about how much she enjoys being around younger people on set. According to her, they keep things fresh and exciting by sharing what is happening in the world and in fashion. She said she loves that energy and cannot imagine simply staying at home and wondering what to do all day. So, for now, our Sally is staying put.
