Coronation Street is bringing new faces to the cobbles, and one arrival will feel especially exciting for Game of Thrones fans. Junade Khan is swapping Westeros for Weatherfield as he joins the ITV soap as Idris Nazir, while another newcomer, Ross, is also set to enter Tyrone Dobbs’ family in a major new storyline.

Junade Khan Is Joining Coronation Street

Coronation Street has confirmed two new arrivals for upcoming episodes. Game of Thrones actor Junade Khan will join the cast as Idris Nazir, a new character who is set to make an impact on the cobbles.

Khan previously appeared in the HBO fantasy series as a Dothraki warrior. Now, he is moving from Westeros to Weatherfield for a very different role. His character Idris will arrive as a new love interest for Leanne Battersby.

CS/ Junade will play Alya’s cousin

Idris will also have a family link on the Street, as he is Alya Nazir’s cousin. That connection places him close to an already known Weatherfield family, but his main storyline will focus on Leanne and the new spark he brings into her life.

Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks said of the character, “He’s a savvy kind of business guy, he’s got a bit of a ruthless streak, he’s not ready to get his hands dirty slightly, but he can charm the birds from the trees.

Idris Brings A New Spark For Leanne

Leanne has been carrying pain and resentment after everything that happened with Nick and Toyah. Idris’s arrival could change that, as he gives her a new reason to smile and a fresh chance to move forward.

Brooks explained, “He’s a new love interest for Leanne. The attraction is instantaneous. It kind of gives Leanne a new lease of life somewhat. She’s been harbouring a deep-rooted resentment towards Toyah and Nick, because that’s the life she had.

Idris seems to have everything Leanne needs at this point in her life. He is funny, charming, handsome, and confident. However, he is not just a soft romantic interest. Brooks made it clear that he has an edge and will not be pushed around easily.

She added, “This guy comes along, he’s got it all, he makes her laugh. He’s funny, he’s a handsome chap, and he ruffles a lot of feathers, but he’s not without an edge. He’s not soft, and he’s certainly no pushover. “He butts heads with some of our more alpha kind of characters quite early on.” Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
