Three years. Two Daytime Emmys on her shelf before she even walked through Port Charles’s doors. And now Kate Mansi is closing the Kristina Corinthos-Davis chapter with a smile on her face, sunglasses on and what sounds like something genuinely exciting waiting just around the corner. General Hospital fans are still processing the news of her exit, but Mansi is already looking ahead, and whatever she is building next has her moving fast.
The Exit, The Decision and What Came After
The announcement landed on Sunday, May 24, and the internet reacted accordingly. Mansi confirmed the news herself, posting the report to her Instagram story, followed by a moody shot of a London balcony under moonlight with the caption, “Goodnight, London moon. More to discuss tmrw.” By Monday morning, she was in a car, sunglasses firmly on, smile equally firm, with a caption that read, “Some exciting news to share soon!” Whatever is coming, she is not waiting around to grieve the exit.
Mansi was not fired from General Hospital. That distinction matters. She chose not to renew her three-year contract, a decision she described as “very difficult” but ultimately the right one. Her husband, producer Matt McInnis, is currently overseas filming a TV series, and the need to travel played a significant role in her thinking. Beyond that, she told Soap Opera Digest that she now has new projects she is actively developing. Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer, responded with full support and made one thing very clear. The door at General Hospital is always open for her return.
General Hospital: A Career Built on Excellence, From Salem to Port Charles
Mansi stepped into the Kristina role in May 2023, succeeding Lexi Ainsworth, who had played the part on and off since 2009. Before she accepted the job, Mansi reached out to Ainsworth personally. She told Soap Opera Digest, “I reached out to her before I did anything else because she’s a friend of mine and someone I respect so much as an actress.
We had a great conversation and I wanted to just make sure that she knew how absolutely adored she is by me and the cast and the fans, and that I would do my best to honor her work.” That level of professionalism is exactly what you would expect from someone who built their reputation the way Mansi did.
Her daytime career started on Days of Our Lives in 2011, playing Abigail Deveraux DiMera. She earned two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress during that run and returned to Salem from 2018 to 2020 before eventually transitioning to General Hospital. During her time in Port Charles, she earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2025 and even stepped behind the camera, directing episodes that aired in November 2025 and March 2026.
Personal Milestones and the End of an Era for the Davis Sisters
Her years on General Hospital were also deeply personal. She got engaged to McInnis in July 2024 and married him in a surprise ceremony attended by close friends, including her on-screen siblings Kristen Vaganos and Giovanni Mazza, who played the violin as she walked down the aisle. The bonds formed on set clearly went well beyond the screen.
Meanwhile, both Vaganos and Rory Gibson, who play Molly and Michael respectively, became genuine close friends off-screen. Vaganos herself is heading into her own next chapter, with Molly set to embark on a book tour.
The two Davis sisters are moving forward in different directions, but the friendship they built behind the scenes at General Hospital is clearly one that lasts well beyond Port Charles. The chemistry that made their sisterhood feel so real was built on something genuine, and that does not just disappear when the contracts end.
Mansi filmed her final episode in April, but Kristina will remain on screen into June, with big news arriving for the character as early as Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She described her time on the show as “a meaningful and unforgettable ride” and said it feels like the right time for both her and Kristina to step into something new. As for what that something new actually is, General Hospital fans may not have to wait long. Kate Mansi is clearly ready to talk, and whatever she announces next, the daytime world will be listening.
