Sawandi Wilson just made Memorial Day considerably more exciting for General Hospital fans. The actor who plays Isaiah Gannon on the ABC soap announced on Sunday that he and his wife Anna Eilinsfeld are expecting their first baby, due in August 2026. The announcement was everything. It had a sonogram, wedding flashbacks, a video montage and a dog in a Big Brother bandana. Brando has officially been an only child long enough.
The Announcement, the Reaction and the Real Life Parallel
Wilson shared the news on Instagram with a video montage celebrating the couple’s first year of marriage. He weaved in pregnancy announcement photos and a sonogram. Eilinsfeld teased the news on her own page with the caption, “Brando has been an only child for long enough. Baby on board, due August 2026.” The couple married in Philadelphia in December 2024. They moved across the country together when Wilson was cast on General Hospital in August 2024. And yes, they brought Brando along for the ride.
The reaction from the GH cast was immediate and warm. Brook Kerr, who plays Portia on the show, was among the first to like Wilson’s post. Some others who commented included Bradford Anderson, Van Hansis, Rick Hearst and Katelyn MacMullen. Additionally, Carlo Rota, Josh Swickard, Dominic Zamprogna and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Lawrence Saint-Victor all offered congratulations. ‘
Tanisha Harper, whose character Jordan was previously romantically linked to Isaiah, also commented. She commented on Eilinsfeld’s post, “I think Brando is ready for big brother duties!” Wilson also becomes the second GH actor to announce a baby this year. This comes after Josh Swickard’s January announcement that he and wife, Lauren, are expecting their third child.
General Hospital: The On-Screen Twist That Makes This Even More Interesting
And now for the layer that General Hospital fans will not be able to ignore. On the show, Isaiah has been a devoted and loving partner to Portia throughout her pregnancy. And there has been a lot of speculation about the mystery man who could be Portia’s baby daddy. However, a paternity test confirmed that the baby is not his. The father is Curtis, Portia’s ex. So while Wilson celebrates real-life fatherhood on the horizon, his character is navigating the particular heartbreak of loving someone through a pregnancy that turns out not to be his story to claim.
That contrast between Wilson’s genuine joy off-screen and Isaiah’s complicated on-screen position is the kind of parallel that makes soap opera viewing genuinely fascinating. Real life and fiction rarely mirror each other this cleanly, and this particular juxtaposition is hard to look away from. Isaiah’s journey on General Hospital just got a lot more emotionally loaded, knowing the man behind the character is about to become a father himself.
Off screen, Wilson and Eilinsfeld are stepping into one of life’s most meaningful chapters. And the support pouring in from the General Hospital cast makes it clear how much he is loved on that set. On screen, Isaiah’s story is far from over. General Hospital has a way of making things complicated before it makes them right. Wilson sure is about to bring a whole new dimension of emotional depth to that journey. Soap Opera Daily extends its warmest congratulations to Sawandi and Anna as they prepare to welcome their first child this August. What a year it is shaping up to be for this family.
