General Hospital Spoilers reveal that actor Chad Duell is all set to exit as Michael Corinthos from the ABC sudser in early 2025. The makers of the soap had been keeping a tight lid on the beloved character’s exit story. However, the soap’s X handle accidentally posted a January 7 episode promo on January 3, 2025. Thus, prematurely revealing Mikey’s exit from the soap. And it is fiery, no pun intended.. or maybe intended!
“TODAY ON #GH… Sonny watches in horror as his penthouse goes up in flames. Plus, Michael is completely engulfed and Jason races to save him from the explosion. Don’t miss it! #GeneralHospital,” the caption under the video read. While the video itself is loaded with shockers. We see Sonny’s penthouse going up in flames. Then in a jaw-dropping scene, Michael appears on the screen engulfed in FLAMES!

General Hospital spoilers reveal that this could be how Michael exits the soap. We see Michael asking for help as he tries to escape the flames that have completely engulfed him. The video shows Sonny shell-shocked as he sees Michael struggling in pain. Sonny tries to get to his son, but Jason pulls him back. Jason then tries to save Michael from the fire. Unfortunately, we have a feeling that it is already too late for Mikey.
While this storyline will confirm Michael’s exit from the soap, it will also open the door for Sonny’s next storyline. We already saw in a previous episode that he is experiencing heart issues. Now, after seeing Michael go up in flames and subsequent smoke inhalation, we can assume that Sonny may land in the hospital with a medical emergency of his own.
Coming back to Michael, the spoilers do not reveal his ultimate fate. It is possible that he survives the fire but gets severely burnt and needs to go to a far-off clinic for recovery. This would open the door for Chad Duell’s exit, while also keeping it open for a future return. GH’s exec, Frank Valentini, previously mentioned that the soap is not keen on recasting the role. Meanwhile, Chad has mentioned that he would be open to returning to the soap after a break.
