Dominic Zamprogna as Dante is one of the most loved characters on General Hospital. He debuted back on June 22, 2009, which means he is ringing in his 15th anniversary on the soap, right as we write this article! And honestly, what wonderful 15 years they have been! Surely, Dante has had his fair share of ups and downs, but what’s a soap without some setbacks?
In a little recap, we’d like to remind the unversed that Dante first arrived in PC as “Dominic” on an undercover mission. However, later he was revealed to be Sonny’s son! Unfortunately, Donfather had already pumped a bullet in him by then. But then, we have to allow him the wiggle room of not knowing the truth.
Oh well! The two did get past that “hiccup” and managed to form a good father-son relationship. So, all was going well for our boy Dante, until someone else pumped a bullet in him in March 2024. Effectively putting him in a coma. But this time round, the GH fandom went berserk with fear that Dominic Zamprogna was perhaps exiting the soap.
Thankfully, that didn’t happen, and Dante woke shortly after! But what’s funny is, Dominic too, feared the same! In a recent chat with Soap Opera Daily, the General Hospital actor divulged that when he was called into Executive Producer Frank Valentini’s office, he had some concerns about the whole coma track.

Dominic wanted to make sure that he was in an on-screen coma, and not an off-screen one, because in the latter case, he’d not be on the soap! Thankfully, the coma situation didn’t last long, and he woke up to all of PC’s relief. Oh, and also to many fans’ relief, Dante’s waking up cleared any doubts about Dominic leaving!
Although the Gh star asserted that it mean a lot to him that fans were so concerned about it! Well, we hope none of us have to face those fears again, and Dominic stays on the soap as Dante for years to come! So, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more General Hospital spoilers on Dante’s story!
