The fierce Nicola Mitchell has been one of the most loved and most hated characters in EastEnders. And since her character takes a major turn on the Square, fans are debating whether she is turning into a loyal ally or remains a ‘villain’ who has gone too far.
Well, the recent discussion reveals exactly how the audience feels about her recent choices and dark past. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Viewers Debate Nicola Mitchell’s Shocking Evolution
Fans of the BBC soap have pointed out that Nicola has grown from a standard soap villain into a protective and classy baddie. They believe that they are seeing a softer side of hers through her loyalty to Honey Mitchell.
Also, a section of the audience believes that the producers are trying to soften her character after a brutal introduction. According to them, they are moving her away from a purely malevolent figure.

However, despite her recent loyalty, several viewers are still not ready to back her. People say that they can never forget that she killed Harry’s pregnant partner. In fact, after Teddy’s sudden exit, fans have been closely monitoring her new match with George too.
And some of them complain that they see absolutely no spark between them. Some viewers also compared her dynamic to that of past icon Shirley. They predict that the soap will build a permanent family unit around her to keep her on the Square.
What EastEnders Fans Are Saying On Reddit
A user said, “Nicola has been my fav since she got out her car in the first episode! Just wish she wasn’t the only one involved with Shareen as it doesn’t seem like her now.”
Another added, “Initially I loved her, thinking she was gonna be the next soap superbitch like Janine or Cindy but they took her in a different direction, which I think I like more. She still has elements of being a villain, but is still caring towards her family and friends. One of my top 5 favourite characters ever tbh.”

A third wrote, “I like her with Honey and that’s it. Can’t stand her interactions with most other characters as she’s vile and nasty. I don’t care about her relationship with George either. And she killed Harry’s pregnant girlfriend…so their relationship is baffling.”
Elsewhere, someone else commented, “She is played amazingly. A nasty piece of work if you cross her, but she has a kind heart for people she trusts or doesn’t do her wrong. I like her a ton the actress and the character.” Meanwhile, how do you like Nicola as a person: her soft version of the villain face? Let us know in the comments section.
