Soap Fans Are Frustrated With Zack’s Cheating Storylines
Viewers have been heavily criticising the writers for reducing Zack to a basic stereotype. Fans have been pointing out his long history of cheating on partners like Nancy Carter and Whitney Dean. Hence, many feel that even now his manipulative behaviour with Vicki seems deeply unlikeable.
Fans have also been critical of how the soap rushed his connection with Barney. And a majority of viewers believe that the character now offers nothing beyond shirtless scenes on screen.
The most famous betrayal storyline was Zack’s betrayal of Lauren Branning. As we know, Whitney and Zack were supposed to get married. However, Zack had a one-night stand with Whitney’s best friend, Lauren Branning.
Later, on the wedding day, the couple stood at the altar to exchange vows. However, Whitney’s foster daughter, Britney, exposed the affair in front of everyone. Whitney was heartbroken from the betrayal and called off the wedding.

A user said, “The problem is between cheating on Whitney and cheating with Vicki the character hasn’t done anything remotely interesting. They tried to give him something by making Barney his son but it feels like the show is just uninterested in developing that relationship with any depth. With Teddy gone we could have seen Zack step up and be a father.”
Another added, “I’m so confused as to what he offers to the show other than his abs? I like abs as much as the next person, but you can’t base a character around that. “Being shirtless” isn’t a personality trait.” Elsewhere, a third wrote, “Pointless character. Cheating is par for the course in EastEnders but he also comes across as a shameless prick.”
