It all begins with the introduction of probationary constable Richie Brezniak. He is very eager to make a strong first impression. Hence, the enthusiast recruits butt heads with Alf during a traffic patrol. Even Cash Newman tried to mentor the newcomer. However, Richi has this by-the-book attitude which leads him to pull Alf over.
That’s when he learns that Alf is driving with an expired license. But when Cash tries to offer a warning Alf accepts the fault and the fine. However, the incident reveals a deeper issue. Summey Bay’s legend has been ignoring a letter mandating a medical assessment to renew his license.
Alf’s Secret Medical Struggle In Home and Away
Elsewhere, Alf’s daughter, Roo, is increasingly alarmed by her father’s health and his antagonistic behaviour whenever a medical check-up is mentioned. Actor Ray Meagher explains that Alf brushes it off. In fact, he becomes defensive because he feels hassled.
Later, the patriarch tells Roo that he has booked a doctor’s appointment with newcomer Dr Amelia Carlisle. However, he secretly cancels it behind her back. Hence, it’s confirmed that Alf is hiding a far more serious condition than he is willing to admit. Also, this license drama is the precursor to a more troubling time for the Stewart family.
