Alea O’Shea, who played Darcy Callahan on Home and Away from 2011 to 2017, has shared an update on her fight with brain cancer. She previously had her first biopsy on her birthday in November and had been in “limbo” waiting for results. O’Shea is now showing the effects of radiation treatment, including hair loss and changes to her left arm. Keep scrolling to learn more.
The Actor Shares About Her Cancer Journey
O’Shea spoke about her cancer battle as she is facing hair loss from her radiation treatment. She initially wanted to avoid brushing her hair. And she was waiting for a wig. However, that didn’t happen as dreadlocks were formed. And she had to call her brother Brock for help. It’s because her left arm is currently paralysed.
Moreover, she said, “I’ve got two of the best brothers in the world.” Earlier, O’she felt crazy speaking about her situation. Furthermore, she notices that something is uneven when she smiles. Even while speaking, she found it difficult, and those were the early signs. She also had migraine but ignored them, thinking they were not serious.
However, when she was in Los Angeles, she lost feeling in two fingers. And that had spread to her wrist and toe. At first, she thought it was just a pinched nerve. And so she visited a physiotherapist. However, the physio suspected a serious issue and recommended getting a brain scan done. And O’Shea was grateful for that advice.
However, she was able to walk and lift her arm. But she faces problems pointing or holding items as her hand is affected. Elsewhere, she even assured her fans that the location of the cancer in her brain isnt going to impact her personally. She added, “I’m still going to be as hilarious.” However, she knew that in future she might face hair loss and possible left-side paralysis.

Elsewhere, O’Shea also encourages her followers to take care of their health. She wants each one to get professional help if they feel something is off. And she was thankful that she received support from her family. She continues doing what she loves.
Moreover, the actress is planning to create videos and connect with fans. Further, she said, “I might be doing videos one-handed. I might disappear when I need to.
