Alea Has Been Diagnosed With Brain Cancer!
Ale O’Shea is bravely documenting her ongoing fight against brain cancer. Also, a major community fundraising effort is underway to support her medical journey. The actress has been open about her health since November last year. Elsewhere, there’s a major GoFundMe page launched by Alea’s friend. And that has already seen incredible support.
The page has raised over $80,000 as of late March. Through the fundraiser the aim is to alleviate the “significant and ongoing financial burden” on the actress and her family. Also, according to the page, many essential procedures, therapies and surgeries including a recent operation, are not covered by private health insurance.
However, despite her own struggles, Alea is helping others. She previously raised money to provide high-quality wigs for women undergoing similar treatments. The actress has also utilised TikTok to give followers an unfiltered look at her treatment. Alea added, “I’m genuinely so blessed to be so well supported.”
Alea’s Legacy In Home and Away
Alea played Darcy Callahan on the show. Also, the actress appeared in two major roles: First as a child, then she returned for her final stint. Darcy was the daughter of Central River boy Heath Braxton and Connie Callahan. Darcy’s final block involved custody arrangements. It also revolved around her living with Heath and his wife, Bianca Scott.
The character’s exit came when her father and stepmother decided to leave Summer Bay for a fresh start. Even Darcy left with them to live in the city. Hence, this marked her final appearance on the soap. Her most memorable storyline was the teenage acting out.
Darcy felt overwhelmed by her broken family dynamics. Hence, she lashed out by running away into the AUstralian bush with her younger brother. Later, when she started high school, she had a heavy crush on Jett Palmer. But when she saw another girl talking to him, Darcy bullied a fellow student.
