During a recent interview, Hugh shared that he played a small guest role back in the 90s. Also, with that role it shaped the way he treats his fellow actors to this day. The actor was promoting his latest comedy series on Morning Live. And it was during this time that the hosts surprised him with a vintage clip showing Hugh playing a school headmaster. He shared the scene with the legendary Pauline Fowler.
The star also reflected on the “shirt, the suit and the hair”. Furthermore, he expressed how delighted he is at the hilarious blast from the past. And guess what? The actor had begged a director friend for a tiny part just to get a foot in the door of such an iconic show. Hugh also revealed that Michelle Collins left a lasting impression on him.
She potted him, “clutching his suit bag”, and offered a warm welcome. And Hugh has to date never forgotten her act of kindness. He understood the importance of supporting newcomers. And he has been maintaining the same philosophy even today.
Hugh Has Been Satirising The World Stage
The actor is currently reprising his role as the unflappable executive Ian Fletcher in the new series. Hugh previously went through the Olympics with Twenty Twelve and the BBC with W1A. Now, Fletcher needs to face the disorderly challenge of organising the World Cup.
