Charlie Brooks Talks About EastEnders Comeback
The legendary star Charlie Brooks recently appeared on Good Morning Britain. And the actress teased a potential return to the BBC soap as the iconic Janine Butcher. As we know the character is behind bars after a car crash that left Mick Carter lost at sea. Also, the fictional release date is closer, so fans are desperate to know if the legendary Walford bad girl is making a comeback.
During the live broadcast, the studio chat turned to the logistics of getting out of jail. Ed Balls joked, “You’ve got to get through the parole hearing first.” To which Charlie dismisses the hurdle, saying, “Yes, yes, but she finds her way out of these situations.”
Later the soap star kept things mysterious teasing, “We’ll have to see!” But when she was directly asked whether an Albert Square return could happen, the actress didn’t ‘rule it out’.
She said, “I mean, look, I get asked this question all the time. I love Janine, I love playing her. She’s a wonderful character. I always get blessed with such great storylines. So, who knows? It’s always a home from home, EastEnders, you know.” However, for now, a stage tour of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time comes first.
The Legendary Villain Has A Long History Of Walford Drama
On the soap, Janine Butcher was known as a ruthless and scheming villain. Her past drama includes scamming men out of money, running over and killing Danielle Jones and pushing husband Barry Evans down the cliff during a trip to Scotland in 2004.
Later on, she also stabbed Michael Moon to death over a bitter custody battle over their daughter, Scarlett. But soon her criminal streak finally came to an end in December 2022. She was also sentenced to five years.
Now the actress has reflected on how the character managed to survive so many scandals without a permanent exit. She laughed, saying, “She should have had a proper comeuppance, shouldn’t she? She’d be dead, or you know.”
