Rejoiceful news for EastEnders long-time viewers as a fan-favourite has dropped hints of returning to the soap. You heard it right, soon the show’s bosses might welcome Natalie Cassidy as Sonia Fowler in the future.
The actress had walked away to focus entirely on raising her kids. However, she still loves the character completely and has kept her options open for a return. Though nothing is confirmed, Natalie has given a major hint. Scroll down to see what the actress has to say.
Relentless Filming Schedule Forced Natalie To Seek A Flexible Lifestyle
An iconic Albert Square veteran has opened the door for a future Walford comeback after her emotional departure. As we know Natalie had bid a humorous goodbye last year to focus on raising her children. In fact, she also wanted to pursue a meaningful career path within the healthcare sector.
The long-serving soap star bid farewell to the television production, bringing an end to a highly memorable run. In her departure storyline we saw the character embarking on an exciting new adventure in Bali alongside Bianca Jackson and daughters Bex and Julia.
Her final scenes featured a humorous getaway via a car towing a speedboat. Natalie said, “It was a lovely, funny send-off, but I won’t miss the relentless schedule- having to skip the kids’ assemblies, never being able to book a doctor’s appointment or make plans with friends. This industry isn’t very friendly for mums, and I want to be home a lot more now.”
Future EastEnders Comeback Remains On The Table!
Natalie has stepped away from the gruelling routine, but she is incredibly proud of her soap origins and refuses to rule out a future return to the role.
She added, “A lot of actors are very bitter about their soap origins…I just see a character who has given me so much. That’s why I’ve been able to leave again in a really amicable manner, and why maybe I’ll go back once more. I love Sonia, and the trumpet. All of her is a part of me.”
After Natalie exited the soap, she transitioned into education to train as a professional carer. In fact, she is inspired by her personal experience of looking after her late father. Well, this journey is currently chronicled in a new documentary series titled Natalie Cassidy: Caring Together.
