Will has not had the easiest introduction to Coronation Street, and viewers are clearly divided over him. While many fans feel sympathy for him because of Megan’s grooming and manipulation, others are struggling to warm to him as a character. His moody behaviour, sharp temper, and sour-faced attitude have made some viewers question whether they are supposed to feel sorry for him or simply want him gone.
Viewers Are Split Over Will’s Attitude in Coronation Street
Some fans have admitted that, despite feeling sorry for Will’s situation, they find him difficult to like. One viewer said they understood that Megan had groomed him and manipulated his feelings, but still felt Will came across as “sour faced” and unlikeable. They even confessed that part of them wanted him to leave with his mum so the street would be rid of him.
The reaction may sound harsh, but it is not an isolated opinion. A few other viewers agreed that Will has been rude, arrogant, violent, and hard to root for. Some also pointed to the incident where he assaulted Daniel as one of the main reasons they struggle to feel much warmth toward him.

For these fans, the problem is not just that Will is unhappy. It is that his behaviour has made him unpleasant to watch. Even though he is a victim in the Megan storyline, his actions have still left a bad taste for some viewers.
However, other fans think that judging Will too quickly misses the point of the storyline. Several Reddit users argued that his mood and behaviour are directly connected to what Megan has done to him. He is not simply being difficult for the sake of it. He is a teenage boy who has been manipulated, isolated, and made to believe that the adults around him do not understand him.
Is Corrie Showing The Damage Megan Has Caused?
A strong section of fans believe Will’s current personality is not the full picture. They think Megan’s manipulation has changed how he behaves and how he sees the people around him. In that sense, his anger and defensiveness may be part of the damage she has caused.
One fan described him as a moody teenager in a difficult situation. They added that viewers may need to wait for the Megan story to blow over. Another pointed out that Will left his friends behind when he moved from Hull. Maybe, he then found himself pulled further away from his family by Megan’s influence. With that in mind, they felt it would actually be unrealistic if he were cheerful and friendly under the circumstances.

This is where the storyline becomes more complicated. Will is not just a sulky teenager. He is a minor who believes he is in love, does not understand why the relationship is wrong, and resents the people trying to stop it. Megan has fed into those feelings, making him feel misunderstood and unsupported.
That may explain why he has been so hostile. From Will’s point of view, everyone else has been standing in the way of what he thinks is love. From the audience’s point of view, it is clear that Megan has been abusing her position and twisting his emotions. Still, some viewers feel the storyline might have landed better if Will had already been an established character before the grooming plot began.
