ITV Confirms When Coronation Street And Emmerdale Return

Coronation Street and Emmerdale have shared another schedule update as fans continue to deal with changes to the TV timetable. While both soaps were already confirmed to air on Friday, July 3, viewers were still waiting to find out when the next episodes would be shown.

The changes are happening because the 2026 FIFA World Cup is reaching its later stages. ITV1, BBC One, and BBC Two are changing their schedules depending on which football matches they are showing. As a result, soap fans have had to keep checking for the latest updates each week.

EM/ Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd in Emmerdale

As already announced, Emmerdale airs for 30 minutes at 7.45 pm on Friday, followed by a 30-minute episode of Coronation Street at 8.15 pm.

Friday’s Emmerdale follows Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd as they face an uncertain future. Coronation Street, meanwhile, reveals the verdict in Megan Walsh’s trial.

Hour-Long Episodes Continue Big Storylines

The schedule becomes much busier on Monday, July 6. Emmerdale returns with a special hour-long episode at 7.30 pm.

The episode follows Cain Dingle as he struggles with his son Kyle Winchester, who continues to rebel. At the same time, the family receives upsetting news when their dog Monty is diagnosed with cancer.

CS/ Alfie in ICU overnight

After that, Coronation Street airs for an hour at 8.30 pm. The episode focuses on Abi Webster after her young son Alfie is rushed to hospital because he has breathing problems. The story also points to newcomer Idris Nazir, whose poor handling of the property as the family’s landlord may have caused the situation.

However, the schedule changes are not over yet. ITV has confirmed that both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will not air on Tuesday, July 7. The channel will instead show FIFA World Cup matches and news coverage throughout the afternoon and evening.
