Royal watchers know that the Duke of York lost his public protection when he was forced to step down from his duties after his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in 2022.
Ever since, Your Majesty has been covering the security cost, which is estimated to be nearly $4 million annually. This move comes amid reports that Charles wants Andrew to leave the 31-room residence in Windsor Great Park.
Although the 64-year-old is understood to have a 75-year long lease on the property and has been living there since 2003. He was allowed to continue living in the property while essential repair works were being carried out after being given ‘a stay of execution’ last year.
However, the Duke of York may now be forced to leave the place after the security staff will not be having their contract renewed in November. According to reports, King Charles has offered his brother Frogmore Cottage with security provisions, but he viewed Harry and Meghan’s former home as too much of a ‘demotion’.

Despite all the tension, Andrew travelled to Scotland on Friday to join his brother and the rest of the royal family at Balmoral Castle. He will be accompanied by his former wife and their daughters.
