Meghan Markle ‘s Netflix show With Love, Meghan gets into $10 million lawsuit drama! The show undoubtedly has many moments where the Duchess promotes her products and recipes like they are made in heaven. But Markle faced the music when one viewer claimed her homemade bath salt recipe was anything but soothing. Catch the whole tea below!
Meghan Markle: Meghan’s Recipe Gone Wrong?
Meghan Markle is back in the headlines, and it’s not because of her personal life this time. Robin Patrick, a woman from Maryland, slammed a recipe Meghan shared, claiming it left her with “catastrophic burns.” She was referring to a bath blend featuring Epsom salt, arnica oil, lavender oil, pink Himalayan salt, and dried flowers.
Moreover, Robin added pictures of her injuries while sharing her painful experience with RadarOnline. The woman claims that she followed the exact recipe from the show, which aired on March 4. But there’s more to this “recipe gone wrong” accusation! Patrick has diabetes, a condition that makes using bath salts extra risky.
MedicalNewsToday believes that people with diabetes often suffer from dry skin or nerve damage. In fact, even small cracks in the skin can invite germs and lead to serious infections. In addition, Patrick insisted she felt “a mild tingling sensation without discomfort.”
But it worsened when the water rose above her legs and touched her buttocks. “I felt burning and significant discomfort in those areas… It caused additional burning sensations on my hand and arm,” she continued. Despite trying Gold Bond and lidocaine spray, the spots developed painful ulcers by nightfall.
The Duchess’ Legal Team Claps Back
Subsequently, Robin threatened to sue Meghan, Netflix, the Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), and Archewell Productions. The involved parties could pay $10 million in punitive damages and $75,000 for her medical expenses. How did Markle’s legal team react to it?
In a letter obtained by The Independent, IPC’s lawyer, Cameron Stracher, responded sharply. “Under the law, neither IPC, Netflix, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, nor Archewell are liable to you for your claims,” he clarified. Furthermore, the lawyer announced there’s no legal duty of care since Patrick and the show’s creators don’t have a relationship.
Cameron stated there was nothing wrong with Meghan’s recipe and blamed the mishap on Robin’s diabetic condition. Meanwhile, Patrick argued that the American actress should have warned viewers about potential health risks. Stracher replied, “It wasn’t foreseeable that you would disregard the instructions on the Epsom salt packaging.”
As for the Netflix show, it continues to stream Megan’s Californian life and her love for cooking and gardening. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for your daily dose of Meghan Markle updates. What do you think about this controversy?
