During an interview with David Letterman’s Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Miley Cyrus spilled the tea on her dad’s current marriage. Her dad married Firerose last year, and they aren’t going strong. The Wrecking Ball singer revealed that her dad is currently dealing with a “tumultuous divorce” from Firerose.
While Miley Cyrus gave insights about her dad’s marriage, she also shared more about her relationship with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley shared that she inherited the narcissism from her father, Billy Ray. The statement came when David asked about her experience when she first moved to Los Angeles to shoot Hannah Montana’s film.
Although Miley tried to recall it, she joked, “I have a terrible memory,” which she adapted from her father. But she hasn’t only adopted some terrible things from her dad. Miley continued in her introduction interview by saying that she is grateful for his father’s genes.
“My dad has great hair, and I got that.” But he has a terrible relationship, and the credit goes to Billy Ray Cyrus’ childhood. Despite sharing a challenging relationship with her dad, Miley has some more pleasing things to talk about him.
As the interview progressed, Miley Cyrus shared that she calls her mom, Tish Cyrus, her hero. But her dad has done some excellent things for Miley. She is even grateful for having him in her life, as he has helped her choose a career path and decide what to do and what not to do. Miley Cyrus said, “He’s [Billy Ray Cyrus] guided me on both.” She added, “I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me.”
While the father-daughter duo has hit a rough patch in their relationship, Miley blames Billy’s upbringing for that. She reveals that Billy grew up very poor in a small town. His parents were even divorced when Billy was young. Thus, it complicated things for him, which is why he suffered in every relationship. However, Miley Cyrus has no grudges for his dad.
