Frogmore Cottage Underwent Many Renovations!

Before moving to their home in Montecito, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lived in several properties in the U.K. They stayed in Nottingham Cottage while they were dating. It is a property on the grounds of Kensington Palace. However, according to Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, Prince Harry was embarrassed to show Meghan the property.

Meanwhile, a year after their wedding in 2018, the late Queen Elizabeth gifted the Sussex couple Frogmore Cottage. It had been divided into separate units so that royal staff members could stay there. However, it underwent many renovations so that it could be made into a five-bedroom home. The renovations took place between November 2018 and April 2019, which cost around $3 million. 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also funded fixtures, curtains, furnishings and other upgrades. In the meantime, they stayed at a farmhouse in the Cotswolds. Meanwhile, royal journalist Emily Andrews shared the first pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Cotswolds home on X in 2019. They had a $3.3 million farmhouse in Oxfordshire.

Meanwhile, before their wedding, a source told US Weekly that Meghan fell in love with the estate. Westfield Large had four bedrooms, converted barns with two kitchens and a sitting area. There was also a two-bedroom cottage with staff and guests. Though the Sussex pair had signed a two-year lease period before their wedding, they didn’t stay for long.

Elsewhere, their secret farmhouse was idyllic. The Sun shared that the Sussex pair loved walking dogs there and entertaining their friends. These included George, Annual Clooney, Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas.

However, halfway through their lease term, they were forced to leave Westfield Large due to a paparazzi incident, which raised security concerns. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to leave after their intrusive photos of the home’s interior rooms were taken through a helicopter chartered by Splash News. Thus, this raised security concerns that they couldn’t live at the property.
